New Special Issue of Journal: Climate Change and the Future of Diversity

The special issue, “Climate Change and the Future of Diversity,” grew out of the eponymous symposium held at the Casanatense Library in Rome, Italy, on 5–6 June 2023. I served as guest co-editor alongside Thomas Hylland Eriksen and Daniele Conversi. The special issue brings together cross-disciplinary work on how climate change is reshaping—and often eroding—biological and cultural diversity, and explores ideas for safeguarding pluralism in nature and culture.

I'm excited to share that on January 23, 2025, my latest collaboration with Iarfhlaith Watson, "Flexible Nationalisms: Applying Anthony D. Smith's Theory to the Irish Case", has been published in Nationalities Papers by Cambridge University Press! 🎉 Click here, it's Opena Access.

In this paper, we dive into Smith's lesser-known ideas on the adaptability of nationalism and apply them to the Irish context. We explore five phases of Irish nationalism, looking at its cultural and political dimensions—especially the role of the Irish language and its wider impact on national identity.
Our goal is to highlight how nationalism has remained resilient and relevant by adapting to shifting social, cultural, and political contexts.
